Interior design is all about balance, proportion, scale, space, colours and textures. And whilst keeping an eye on the big picture to create a cohesive look, it is those small finishing touches that will tie a room together. As you know, the Devil is in the details…And quite often, you will find those details in the soft furnishings; curtains, cushions and lampshades.
Lampshades are often overlooked, and yet, they are an important element of your lighting plan and overall décor.
By definition, lampshades are “for shielding the glare of a light source in a lamp and/or for directing the light to a particular area”. But that’s not all. They are the secret ingredient of any good interior design! They can transform your space into a sophisticated environment. And whether you go bold or subtle, elegant or eclectic, our first tip is to choose a colour that compliments your room. If you have more than one lampshade, they don’t need to match but they do need to “be talking the same language”: similar shape or colour scheme. From size to colour, shape to trimmings, lampshades will give any room a fresh new twist while complementing everything you already love.
We pride ourselves in providing a bespoke lampshade service because we understand that lampshades should be as unique as you are. With a choice of fabrics, colours, shapes and sizes, you will find the perfect match.
And here are a few tips to help you in making the right choice.
Colour – Pick an existing colour in either some artwork or some existing soft furnishing and repeat or compliment that colour in your shade.
Size – (because size does matter) The width of the shade should be roughly equal to the height of the lamp from base to fitting and definitely bigger than the widest point of the base.
Shape – Rule of thumbs, match the shape of the base to the shade: square with square for example.
Our hand-made lampshades will brighten up your home from floor to ceiling and guarantee that no one else will have the same lampshade!
So, what will be yours? Classic linen, leopard print or our Natalia collection 100% cotton for a fresh and light style? Will you choose the Empire shape (wide top diameter and steep sides) or a square one?
